The Fairmount Organic Recycling Center

Philadelphia Residents

For residential use, city residents may obtain compost, mulch, wood chips and herbivore manure. There is no charge for small amounts of materials (up to a 30 gal. can). Residents that wish to obtain more than the free allotment must purchase the materials. (please refer to the rates listed below).

Upon arrival at the Center, residents must provide their driver's license to Recycling Center staff to demonstrate proof of residency. Residents must also complete a daily log-in sheet and waiver form prior to loading materials onto their vehicles.There is a public section for those wishing to pickup free materials. (Cars Only) Purchased materials can be loaded with a front end loader by Park Staff. (Trucks, trailers)

Logs are also available for cutting into firewood. There is no charge.

Interested parties must follow the above instructions and must bring their own tools. (Chain saw and splitter recommended for cutting logs into firewood)

$10 minimum charge
All transactions subject to applicable sales tax.

* Screened Leaf Compost is made from leaves and herbivore manure. No sewage or sludge material is used in the processing of the compost. The Park's compost is safe for gardens and is tested periodically to ensure high standards (see Compost Report).

All disposed materials must be clean and delivered separately. No plastic bags, metal or trash of any kind will be accepted.

Credit cards, checks ONLY. No cash accepted.

Fairmount Park reserves the right to refuse disposal of any materials.
