ornithology) by bird watching along Pennypack Creek. The Pennypack Environmental Center was originally dedicated
as a bird sanctuary in 1958.
Today, the Center has an outdoor amphitheater, exhibits, a new reference library and campfire and picnic areas. Learn more about the various school, public and camp programs at the Pennypack Environmental Center by clicking one (or more) of the links below.

Enbodying Thoreau: Dwelling, Sitting, Watching........Together these structures explore the study and enjoyment of the natural world, as well as the relationship between nature and culture. Elements of the project include Thoreau's Hut, which has the same dimensions as Henry David Thoreau's famous hut at Walden Pond; Benches, which provide a location for people to sit together in nature; and Bird Blind, a wildlife observation structure that resembles a woven nest. Created by artist, Ed Levine, in association with the Fairmount Park Art Association and Pennypack Environmental Center Advisory Council. (click here to see brochure)
Nature Detective Camp
