Wissahickon Environmental Center at the Andorra Natural Area
Located at the northern end of the Park in the majestic gorge of the Wissahickon Valley, the Wissahickon Environmental
Center is part of what was once Andorra Nursery, the largest nursery on the East Coast following World War II.
For those who are familiar with this former farmhouse, it will forever be called the "Tree House" because a giant tree grew through its front porch until the early 1990s. We invite new generations of Wissahickon lovers to visit the Center and check out our new aquarium and life-like floor to ceiling mural depicting wildlife in the area.
You can also take advantage of fun and informative programs (see below)
which are offered year round. What a great venue to try your hand at apple pressing and maple sugaring or learn more
about native wildlife, creeks, forest ecology and watersheds.
Tree House Tots: A fun, interactive program for pre-schoolers. The
Wissahickon Environmental Center offers a program designed for young
children to discover the wonders of nature. Click here for more
information.
"Out -n- About" Summer Camp for Ages 11-14. Venture out beyond your neighborhood and discover Fairmount Park and beyond. This program is full, there are no spots remaining.
Wissahickon Summer Adventure Camp. Ages 5-10. Explore the Wissahickon Valley of Fairmount Park in a camp packed with Nature discovery, games and crafts.
