Ultimate Frisbee
Edgeley Field in East Fairmount Park is the site of many a frisbee game. League sign-ups are held at the beginning of the fall, spring and summer seasons. Players are picked in a draft-style format by team captains. Additional players who have signed up to play through the Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance (pada.org), the local affiliate of the Ultimate Players Association, are also assigned to teams. In the spring and fall seasons, highly competitive collegiate and club teams contend for the National Championship. Club teams are comprised of players who like playing together. The clubs participate in various tournaments around the country. A team can advance from sectionals to regionals to nationals and ultimately, to worlds. Several Philly teams have made it to worlds.
