Thomas Mansion

George Clifford Thomas, a prominent banker with Drexel and Company who retired from daily business before the age of 40, constructed this remarkable Gothic Revival house in 1869. Currently, the Fairmount Park Commission is seeking a new use for the building. Restoration, stabilization, and reconstruction work should start next year.

The interior features exceptional woodwork and Victorian decorative treatments. Surviving with few alterations, this is one of the premier surviving Victorian buildings in the park. Large scale and elegant appointments of the rooms make this building particularly suitable for public use.
