Services/Permits
Services
Fairmount Park offers some
unique venues
to hold your special event. Indoors, outdoors, or in a historic building,
we have lots of options. In this section, you'll see what's rentable, a few prices, and whom to call for more info.
Another service performed by Fairmount Park is the care of street trees in the City of Philadelphia. That can mean
planting, removing, and/or pruning trees along your curb or in the Park. District Arborists are well-versed with the
different tree species, the best planting conditions and how to care for both your new and mature trees.
On the pages that follow, you'll learn whom to call for your street tree needs and how to take care of your tree(s). Trees are vital to
the environment and have long been a key element of Fairmount Park. Together, by taking care of our trees, we can
continue to build a strong, healthy Park.
Permits
Each year, over 630 special events take place in Fairmount Park. This number does not include the use of picnic
sites or athletic fields/courts. Imagine what would happen if no one filled out a permit! Yikes.
Fairmount Park's Special Events Office handles all the coordination of permits. If you're thinking of holding an
event or picnic, playing sports on an athletic field, or getting married in Fairmount Park, make sure you
apply for a permit.
The sooner the better.
Generally, the rule of thumb is if your group has 75 or more people, you'll need a permit. Please note: if you're
playing a pick-up game, for example, and don't have a permit, if another group comes along with a permit, you'll be
bumped. If you're having your wedding photos taken, you'll need to apply for a permit regardless of how many you
are.
