Jacob Kelter House

Clifford Park (bordered by Lincoln Drive, Wissahickon Avenue, Johnson Street and Washington Lane) was a showcase Wissahickon property that featured Thomas Mansion when it was bequeathed to the city in 1907. The nearby Jacob Kelter House, overshadowed by the larger Victorian Thomas Mansion, was also part of the Clifford Park deal. The Jacob Kelter House had functioned as a tenant house on the estate. The history of the building remains obscured, but its name stems from its builder, Jacob Kelter, who completed the house around 1824. Currently, the City of Philadelphia Department of Streets uses the building as office space.
