What are Watershed Partnerships? Water is a precious commodity. All of the water that we use on a daily basis comes from our local streams and rivers, such as the Wissahickon Creek and the Delaware River. The Fairmount Park system contains many of the streams and rivers that are part of Philadelphia's drinking water supply. Therefore, we must keep our streams and rivers healthy and free of pollutants and trash. The Fairmount Park Commission and the Philadelphia Water Department are key members in five Watershed Partnerships. These Partnerships are consortiums of proactive environmental organizations, community groups, government agencies, businesses, residents and other stakeholders who want to improve their watershed.
