Courts abound. If hoops are your pleasure, come on out and work on that jump shot or play a pick-up game with some friends. Lloyd Hall, the Park's community recreation center, is home to local basketball leagues.

If tennis is your sport, grab your racket and balls and head out to the court nearest you. Some locations, like East Park and FDR Park have brand, new courts waiting to be used. Imagine acing that serve the next time you play.

Bocce too. It takes good aim and perhaps a little luck to get close to the Pallino. The popularity of this game is rising and Fairmount Park offers two locations to play. Visit Marconi Plaza at Broad and Oregon Streets or Vine and Daggett Streets and perfect your bocce game.

Fairmount Park has fields galore. In South Philly's FDR Park, for example, you'll find Ashburn Fields, named for Phillies' outfielder and National Baseball Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn. This two-field complex is without rival in Philadelphia. The regulation size field regularly hosts collegiate play and championship games and an accompanying Little League field offers area youngsters a "big league" experience.

Some other locations in the park have several fields clumped together. At Pennypack on the Delaware, you'll find eight soccer fields and four softball fields on this newly created 150-acre park. Play against a beautiful view of the Delaware River where you can watch sailboats float by, or just relax to the sound of a passing gull - when you're not scoring a goal, that is.
