Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center
In 1936, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) constructed the Cobbs Creek Stable as a Park Guard headquarters
and public comfort station. In the Fall of 2001, following a $2.6 million restoration, the building reopened as
the Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center. The Center now showcases a magnificent naturalist mural,
community rooms, classrooms and laboratories.
If you're curious about what's happening in Cobbs Creek - start at the Center. Programs for kids include tree surveys,
urban watershed studies, and an environmental scholars program that teaches in-depth science and lab skills. Studies
are enhanced by the virtual outdoor lab featuring urban ecology and environmental stewardship. Teachers, there's
training for you too.
