CASE Building
Built in 1912 as a restaurant, the CASE Building was a "Public Comfort Station" where park visitors could grab a cold
drink or ice cream cone and rest under the columned porch. Inside, the built-in restaurant icebox still survives.
Over the years, the building has served a wide variety of purposes from a bomb shelter to a meeting space for seniors,
earning it the nickname "Golden Age Building." Its current acronym CASE stands for Cultural Arts, Special Events
reflecting its use in the 1980s as a ticket office for the department of recreation. Today, it serves as offices
for Fairmount Park staff.
