Boelson Cottage

Boelson Cottage is one of the oldest structures in Fairmount Park - (competing with Historic RittenhouseTown). Unfortunately recent research has not been able to pin down a definitive date. Overlooking the Schuylkill River for approximately 300 years, this building reflects early Dutch and Swedish vernacular architecture of the American colonies through its gambrel roof, small casement windows and internal floor plan.

Boelson also has the distinction of being the last remaining building from the "Belmont Oil Works" (one of the nation's first petroleum refineries) and subsequently, the "Belmont Offices" which served as the administrative offices of Fairmount Park for over 100 years. Today, it again serves as offices for Fairmount Park staff.
