What's New in Fairmount Park

Fairmount Park and the Department of Recreation Develop Guiding Merger Documents
Fairmount Park and the Department of Recreation are in the process of planning our merger. An extensive staff and civic engagement process has resulted in exciting and visionary guiding documents for the new department. Please click here to view the new department's Vision, Mission and Goals, Operational Imperatives and Strategic Objectives. If you have any questions or would like to share your thoughts, please email us at merger.feedback@phila.gov. Thank you for your interest and support of the departments.

Growing the Neighborhood
This year, Girard Park in South Philadelphia and Wingohocking Park in Logan will receive funds through Growing the Neighborhood (GTN), a Fairmount Park Conservancy initiative.

The Friends group for each park will decide what improvements they would like to see happen. They will do this in a series of public meetings with community members, Fairmount Park staff and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Projects will be designed and implemented in Spring and Summer of 2006.

Many thanks to The ACE Group, NovaCare Rehabilitation, and the William Penn Foundation who are the initial sponsors of the GTN program. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a sponsor of this great program, please call 215-790-3653.
